Sound familiar?

I was reading A.W.N. Pugin's Contrasts for a class, and ran across the following quote, which still resonates:
Here altar cloaths lie scattered, and
There does a broken altar stand;
Some steal away the crucifix;
And some the silver candlesticks;
Rich vestments others do convey,
And antipendiums bear away;
And what they thought not fit to steal,
They burn as an effect of zeal.
