Exactly what it says on the tin. And much, much, much more:

Who knew the Sarum-rite custom of wearing yellow for the feasts of confessors had persisted so long...or been imported into the Use of Maui?
Even more alarming is the scary possibility that our Orthodox brethren, usually thought impervious to such things, have started to slip into faux-cuteness too, too. Talk about a canary in the coal-mine...
I think the worst vestment I ever saw belonged to a priest who used to lead our Catholic student retreats in college. It was a patchwork chasuble that had been made out of what appeared to be old jeans. Cute idea for a quilt...but for a vestment, not so much. He told us it had been made for him by college students at a retreat many years ago so he always used it when on retreat. I think there was also puffy paint involved, but I've tried to block that from my memory.
ReplyDeleteUkrainians have a reputation for wearing junk in the form of linen vestments with adorned with folkloristic embroidery. Not really appropriate...the sort of thing one find on towels or shirts.

That yellow one... It's been decades since I used the word 'faggy.'
ReplyDeleteYou think that's bad, you haven't seen the Womaniple, or "Smurf Maniple"...traditional vestments arent safe either:
